Description

N.E. jazzlinks is a group for those who are involved in jazz of all styles and are providing, or
interested in providing, music education/activity /experiences for children and young people aged 0-25 , and who would like to share ideas, access training and resources and get together occasionally.

The group sits within Aberdeenshire Youth Music Forum (aymf) and is open to all from the north east of Scotland and further afield.

Aberdeenshire’s YMI Jazz Programme gains national award!
Justin Brook ,Aberdeenshire’s YMI funded Instrumental Music Service Coordinator is delighted that Aberdeenshire has been awarded a Diploma by the National Music Council and the Music Education Council for their outstanding commitment to Jazz Education in 2009/10. These are National Music awards that cover the UK.
Aberdeenshire’s YMI Jazz programme , which is managed by Justin, is delivered by well known jazz educators, Richard Ingham and Richard Michael . Most of the Shire’s 151 Priimaries and several Academies have been visited with Jazz workshops and Richard Ingham is the artistic director of Aberdeenshire’s Saxophone Orchestra.

    Aberdeenshire Saxophone Orchestra, Aberdeenshire Jazz Ensemble and the South Aberdeenshire Music Centre Big Band will all be performing at the Lemon Tree as part of the Aberdeen Jazz Festival, 1.30pm – 2.30pm. All three groups will then move on to the Beach Ballroom in Aberdeen to perform at the launch of the City and Shire Strategic Music Partnership. Admission to both events is free.
